What is Python - A basic definition

Python is a general-purpose coding language, It can be used for other types of programming and software development besides web development.

Introduction to Python 

Python is a high-level interpreted scripting language. It is developed in the late 1980’s, by Guido van Rossom, at National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science, Netherlands. The initial version of Python was published at the alt.sources newsgroup in 1991, and the first version 1.0 was released in the year 1994.

The second version of python 2.0 was released in the year 2000, and the 2.X versions were released until December 2008, Python 2 and Python 3 are very similar. Some features of Python 3 have been borrowed from Python 2.

Both Python 2 and Python 3 is Continuously maintained and developed, with new update releases. At the time of writing, the available Python 2 version is 2.7, and the latest Python 3 version is 3.7.3. If you are a new learner of Python, then it is recommended that you focus on Python 3.
